100% lavender essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the flowers of the Lavandula angustifolia plant. It is a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid, with a characteristic herbal and floral aroma.
It can contain more than 100 different components. It is mainly composed of linalyl acetate, linalool, levandulol, 1,8 cineole, levanduyl acetate and
camphor. The remaining components are terpenoids, such as monoterpenes, triterpenes and sesquiterpenes, as well as phenolic compounds.
Lavender essential oil is characterized by a variety of pharmacological activities ranging from anti-inflammatory to antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, antiviral, sedative and many other actions.
