Why must NYDA®express be applied to dry hair?
NYDA® express combats head lice and their eggs by penetrating and blocking their breathing pores, causing them to suffocate. Because water has a higher surface tension than NYDA® express, it cannot penetrate the head louse's respiratory system. If NYDA® express is applied to wet hair, the product becomes diluted and is no longer effective. Therefore, successful treatment can only be guaranteed when applied to dry hair.

Is poor hygiene the cause of lice?
Unfortunately, many people believe that lice are a sign of poor hygiene. However, lice don't care whether hair is freshly washed or greasy. They spread through direct hair-to-hair contact, regardless of the hair's hygiene. This misconception leads to people feeling ashamed that head lice have appeared in their family and therefore either not reporting the infestation at all or reporting it too late. As a result, the tiny parasites can spread even further. This can keep care facilities busy with head lice control for months.

Can head lice survive in clothing, bedding, and towels?
No. Head lice need blood to survive. Removed from the head, they dehydrate significantly within a few hours. These lice no longer pose an infection risk because they can no longer produce the saliva needed for bloodsucking. The eggs are laid close to the scalp because they require warmth and moisture. If they are found more than 1 cm away from the scalp, they are either empty or dead.
