The Tegaderm 3M Film 6 x 7 cm is a waterproof and breathable pre-applied dressing made of polyurethane film with a hypoallergenic adhesive. It serves as a reliable protective dressing for a wide variety of wound conditions and promotes an ideally moist wound environment. The transparent film shields the wound from external influences while simultaneously allowing gas exchange through the skin.

Areas of application and properties

This dressing is suitable as a final secondary dressing in an ideally moist wound environment. It can also be used as a primary dressing for dry, superficial wounds, such as leg ulcers of various origins, pressure ulcers, first- and second-degree burns, split-thickness skin graft donor sites, and lacerations and abrasions. Catheter insertion sites, the fixation of drains and tubes, and vulnerable skin areas can also be securely covered. The hypoallergenic adhesive is formulated for good skin compatibility.

Application

The dressing is applied to appropriately prepared, clean, and dry skin or wounds. It can be used as an outer protective layer over a primary dressing or applied directly to dry, superficial wounds. For catheter insertion sites, drains, and probes, the film dressing is positioned to completely cover the insertion site and securely fix the respective device. Its use should be guided by its intended purpose.
