Octenisept

Octenisept is available as a dermal solution that can be applied directly to the skin or mucous membranes. The product is available in vials of various capacities, usually between 50 ml and 1000 ml, facilitating its use in different medical settings. 

Octenisept can also be found as a solution for oral use or as a skin gel for wounds and burns.

Octenisept solution is indicated for:

• Skin and mucous membrane cleansing prior to vaginal, transvaginal, urological and proctologic diagnostic, therapeutic or surgical procedures, including for pregnant and breastfeeding women
• Antisepsis before inserting a sterile coil and during artificial insemination procedures (in vitro fertilization)
• Antisepsis of the skin in obstetrics, especially in the case of caesarean operations and on skin poor in sebaceous glands
• Pre-, peri- and post-natal antiseptic washes
• Short-term adjuvant treatment in intertrigo and for skin lesions, including abrasions, cuts, cuts, bites, abrasions, scabs, fistulas, varicose ulcers and diabetic gangrene
• General oral hygiene and preoperative antiseptic treatment in the oral cavity

For the correct use of Octenisept, it is recommended to carefully clean the affected area at least twice with a swab moistened in the solution, using a new swab each time to ensure even coverage. 

In easily accessible areas, the product can be applied by spraying. It is important that Octenisept is administered undiluted and contact time should be at least 1-2 minutes to ensure maximum efficacy.

It is also possible to rinse the oral cavity with Octenisept, but only in cases where antisepsis of the entire oral cavity is necessary.

Octenisept is not indicated for:

• People with hypersensitivity to octenidine dihydrochlorhydrate, phenoxyethanol or any of the excipients of the product
• Use on brain lesions, meninges, bladder, bladder, eye or eardrum
• Use for peritoneal lavage

Octenisept should not be used for more than 14 days because there are no clinical data available on taking it for longer intervals.

It is important to avoid contact with the eyes. In case of accidental contact, wash with plenty of water.

Important! The medicine is indicated for external use only.

Like any medicine, Octenisept can cause side effects, although not all people experience them. 

A bitter taste caused by octenidine dihydrochloride may occur when using the mouthwash, but this lasts for about an hour.

Cutaneous application of octenidine dihydrochloride may also lead to the development of contact dermatitis.

It is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using any other medicines. 

It is not recommended to use Octenisept at the same time as iodine-containing antiseptics, as skin discoloration of a brown or deep purple tint may occur.

Overdose with Octenisept is unlikely, given the way it is used. However, if excessive amounts have been used or if severe side effects occur, it is recommended to contact a doctor immediately.

In case of accidental ingestion of a large amount, you should contact your doctor immediately as gastric evacuation is necessary. 

Octenisept should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. It is important to observe the expiry date stated on the packaging and to store it out of the reach of children. Use for a maximum of one year after first opening the bottle.
