Cutimed Sorbact Gel

Cutimed Sorbact Gel is a hydrogel-impregnated, germ-reducing wound dressing. It cleanses the wound of debris and necrotic tissue through autolytic debridement and reduces the bacterial count in the wound based on the principle of hydrophobic interaction: The special Sorbact coating gives the product strong hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties. Many pathogenic bacteria and fungi are naturally hydrophobic and therefore bind to the Sorbact tissue. Thus, with each dressing change, the bacterial count in the wound is reduced, creating optimal conditions for the natural wound healing process.

Advantages:

• No known mechanisms for the development of resistance in bacteria or fungi to Cutimed Sorbact
• No killing of bacteria and fungi, therefore no additional release of endotoxins and thus no associated delay in healing.
• Unlimited duration of use during the course of therapy
• No known contraindications

Cutimed Sorbact Gel consists of a hydrogel-impregnated compress made of acetate fibers with a bacteria-binding coating. Latex-free formula. Not made with natural rubber latex.

Areas of application:

• Cutimed Sorbact Gel is suitable for all clean, colonized, contaminated or infected wounds and is used for dry to slightly exuding wounds:
• chronic wounds (e.g. venous, arterial or diabetic ulcers as well as pressure sores)
• Postoperative wounds and wound dehiscence
• traumatic wounds
• Wounds following excision of fistulas and abscesses

Dressing change:
Depending on the amount of exudate, the overall condition of the wound and the surrounding area, up to 7 days if the clinical condition allows.
