Properties:

The flowers of the shrub Sambucus nigra L., fam. Caprifoliaceae, containing glycosides, flavones, polyphenols, tannins, saponosides, mucilages, vitamin C.
Effect:
Expectorant, emollient (combats dryness of mucous membranes), sudorific, diuretic, laxative, febrifuge, antiseptic, galactagogue (stimulates milk secretion).
Main uses:
Respiratory viruses, cough, fever, detoxification.
Other uses:
Constipation, weight loss cures, skin infections, joint pain.
Contraindications:
The recommended doses are not known.
Preparation:
Make an infusion of 1 teaspoon of chopped herb to a cup of water.
Administration method:
