FIWA comp Gauze compresses for general wound care

FIWA komp gauze compresses are made of 17-thread gauze according to DIN EN 14079 and are 100% cotton. The folded edges help reduce fraying and ensure a stable, adaptable surface. The compresses are suitable for external use and are designed for use in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and doctors' offices.

Areas of application and advantages

Gauze compresses are used for general wound care, particularly for the initial treatment of contaminated, infected, and or heavily exuding wounds. They can be used both as wound dressings (compresses) and as swabs, for example, during minor surgical procedures in the outpatient clinic or on the ward. Variants without a radiopaque thread are intended for external use; versions with a radiopaque thread are specifically designed for the operating room.

Instructions for use

Depending on the variant, non-sterile and sterile sealed gauze compresses are available. Non-sterile compresses must be sterilized using a validated procedure before contact with open wounds. Sterile compresses are sealed in single or double packaging, depending on the product, and can be used directly in accordance with the hygienic standards of the respective treatment area. Select the appropriate compress thickness (e.g., 8-ply, 12-ply, 16-ply, 32-ply) and size according to the wound size and absorbency requirements.

Regulatory information and storage

The products are classified as medical devices according to Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR) or Directive 93/42/EEC (Class I or Class Is, Rule 4) and are CE marked at all packaging levels. The marking is carried out according to DIN EN ISO 15223-1. Store the gauze compresses in a dry place and protect them from sunlight.

Do not use the product if the packaging is damaged or the expiration date has passed. Gauze compresses are for single use only and must not be reused.
