Kelo-cote is a silicone gel for scar treatment which, thanks to its light consistency, dries automatically. Kelo-cote dries quickly to a film; This silicone gel film is flexible, gas permeable and water resistant. Kelo-cote adheres to the stratum corneum (the outermost layer of dead cells of the epidermis), creating a protective barrier against chemical, physical and microbial invasion of the scar and contributing to the hydration of the skin. In this way, an environment is created that allows the scar to evolve with a normalized collagen synthesis, improving its physiological and aesthetic appearance.

When used as directed, Kelo-cote flattens, softens and reduces scars, relieves itching and discomfort associated with scars, and reduces scar staining. Silicone gels have proven their effectiveness in treating abnormal scars, including hypertrophic scars and keloids. According to the 2002 Clinique international guidelines on scar management, "silicone should be the first-line treatment for the initial management of all scars and for the prevention of hypertrophic and keloid scars"

Kelo-cote can be used on joints, flexure creases, hairy areas and extensive scars such as those resulting from burns or severe trauma.

Directions:
Kelo-cote is indicated for the treatment of old and new hypertrophic scars and keloids, due to surgery, trauma, wounds and burns. Kelo-cote can be used on children and people with sensitive skin.
