Urgotül Silver 15x20 cm wound gauze 5 pcs.
Description
UrgoTül Ag/Silver
UrgoTül Ag/Silver is a silver-impregnated lipidocolloid wound dressing. It is based on lipidocolloid technology (TLC), an innovation developed by Laboratoires URGO. This dressing is based on the TLC-Ag wound healing matrix (Ag = silver salt), consisting of a polyester mesh impregnated with hydrocolloid particles (carboxymethylcellulose), petrolatum, cohesive polymers, and silver salt. UrgoTül Ag/Silver is non-adherent, non-occlusive, and does not stick to the wound.
Characteristics:
Upon contact with wound exudates, the hydrocolloid particles (CMC) gel and form a lipidocolloid film on the wound. This results in the following specific properties:
- Maintaining a moist wound environment, which promotes healing.
- Gel formation upon contact with the wound.
- Atraumatic removal to protect the newly formed tissue.
- Painless dressing changes for the patient.
- Protection of the wound area.
Furthermore, the silver ions (Ag+) contained in the TLC-Ag wound healing matrix of UrgoTül Ag/Silver provide antibacterial efficacy, capable of reducing local bacterial colonization. Silver is characterized by a broad antimicrobial spectrum of activity, including against gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, as well as certain fungi and yeasts. It is particularly effective against Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Bacillus pyocyaneus), which are most commonly responsible for infected wounds. The antibacterial efficacy of the dressing has been demonstrated in vitro for a period of 7 days. The antibacterial efficacy of the dressing also contributes to odor reduction.
Precautions:
- Treatment with UrgoTül Ag/Silver should only be carried out under medical supervision.
- The use of the wound dressing does not preclude the need for appropriate systemic antibacterial treatment of infected wounds in accordance with local care protocols.
- UrgoTül Ag/Silver can stick to surgical latex gloves. It is therefore recommended to moisten them with physiological saline solution to facilitate handling of UrgoTül Ag/Silver.
- Combined use with other local treatments is not recommended.
- Since no specific clinical data are available, the use of UrgoTül Ag/Silver during pregnancy, breastfeeding, in newborns and premature infants is not recommended.
- Medical professionals must take into account that data on the long-term and repeated use of a silver-containing wound dressing, especially in children or newborns, are very limited.
- Avoid contact between the wound dressing and electrodes or conductive gels during examinations with electronic devices, EEG and ECG, etc.
- Do not use in a hyperbaric chamber.
- Sterile single packaging intended for single use only: Reusing a single-use wound dressing may pose a risk of infection.
- Check the integrity of the sterile individual packaging before use. Do not use if the sterile individual packaging is damaged.
- Do not sterilize again.
Instructions for use:
- Clean the wound with physiological saline solution. If an antiseptic was used previously, rinse the wound thoroughly with physiological saline solution.
- UrgoTül Ag/Silver can be cut to size with sterile material to adapt the dressing size to the wound.
- Remove the protective films from the wound dressing.
- Apply UrgoTül Ag/Silver directly to the wound.
- Cover UrgoTül Ag/Silver with a secondary dressing (sterile compress suitable for absorbing exudate and held in place with a fixation bandage).
- Apply a compression bandage if prescribed.
- UrgoTül Ag/Silver should be changed every 1 to 3 days, depending on the wound being treated and its clinical course.
- The maximum treatment duration with UrgoTül Ag/Silver is one month.
Indications:
UrgoTül Ag/Silver is suitable for the local treatment of wounds with a risk of or signs of local infection: chronic wounds (leg ulcers, pressure ulcers) and acute wounds (second-degree burns, abrasions, traumatic wounds, surgical wounds, etc.). Since the dressing is non-adherent, UrgoTül Ag/Silver is recommended for the treatment of wounds with sensitive surrounding skin.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to silver and other components of the wound dressing. Do not use on patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
