Duoflect

Duoflect is available as a spot-on solution in single-dose pipettes, designed for easy and precise application to the animal’s skin. There are several variants tailored to body weight and target species, including:

• Duoflect for cats >5 kg and dogs 2–10 kg;
• Duoflect for dogs weighing 10–20 kg;
• Duoflect for dogs 20–40 kg;
• Duoflect for dogs >40 kg.

Duoflect spot-on is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea and tick infestations in dogs and cats.

In dogs, it provides rapid action against fleas, protection for up to 9 weeks and action against ticks for approximately 6 weeks, whilst also inhibiting the development of eggs and larvae. 

In cats, protection against fleas lasts up to 8 weeks and against ticks for approximately 5 weeks, with an effect on the immature stages of fleas as well.

The recommended dose is one pipette per animal, corresponding to a minimum dose of 12 mg/kg body weight of fipronil and 6 mg/kg of (S)-methoprene.

Administration is carried out by applying the solution directly to the skin at the base of the neck, in an area where the animal cannot lick it. This method reduces the risk of accidental ingestion of the product.

The use of Duoflect for cats and dogs is contraindicated in certain situations, including:

• in rabbits, as severe adverse reactions or even death may occur;
• in cases of known hypersensitivity to fipronil, (S)-methoprene or the product’s excipients;
• in sick, feverish or convalescing animals;
• in puppies under 8 weeks of age or weighing less than 2 kg;
• in cats younger than 8 weeks or weighing less than 0.5 kg.

Duoflect for dogs and cats is intended for external use only and must not be administered orally. The solution must be applied directly to the skin, to a dry and intact area, avoiding areas with wounds or skin lesions.

After application, animals should be monitored to prevent them from licking the product off each other. It is also recommended to wait until the application site is completely dry before the treated animal comes into contact with fabrics.

In general, Duoflect cat and dog is well tolerated by dogs and cats when used as recommended. However, in rare cases, local reactions may occur at the application site:

• erythema or skin irritation;
• temporary itching;
• temporary changes in the appearance of the coat.

No significant drug interactions have been reported between Duoflect and other products commonly used in veterinary medicine. 

However, concomitant use with other topical insecticides or acaricides should be undertaken with caution and only on the advice of a veterinarian.

Overdose may increase the likelihood of mild cutaneous or neurological adverse reactions.

In the event of accidental application of an excessive amount, treatment is symptomatic and consists of monitoring the animal and, if necessary, washing the application site with water and a mild shampoo.

Duoflect dog and cat should be stored in the original packaging at room temperature, protected from light and moisture. The pipettes should be stored out of the reach of children and animals.

It is recommended that the product be used before the expiry date printed on the packaging and not used if the packaging shows signs of damage.
