Positivum is a dietary supplement with a calming effect, formulated from carefully selected plant extracts, which provides the body with natural support during periods of nervous tension, stress or irritability. Through the synergistic combination of lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), hops (Humulus lupulus) and saffron (Crocus sativus), the product helps maintain emotional balance, reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality.
Forms of release
Positivum is mainly available in the form of film-coated tablets, packaged in boxes of 6 blisters of 30 tablets each, for easy use and precise dosing. There are two main formulas:
- Positivum – contains lemon balm, hop and saffron extracts; it is intended to reduce nervous tension, maintain a balanced mood and promote relaxation.
- Positivum SEN – enriched with melatonin, recommended for people with sleep disorders or difficulty falling asleep.
Indications for use
Positivum tablets are recommended as an adjuvant in states of stress, mild anxiety, irritability and functional insomnia. Due to its natural profile, it can be used in:
- Periods of mental tension associated with professional or emotional overload;
- Minor sleep disorders, such as difficulty falling asleep or night-time awakenings;
- Supporting emotional balance during periods of transition, such as menopause, exams or changes in circadian rhythm;
- Maintaining a positive mood and reducing feelings of anxiety.
Dosage
The recommended dose for adults is 1 tablet three times a day, taken with sufficient water.
For Positivum SEN, it is recommended to take 3 tablets shortly before bedtime to take advantage of melatonin's effect on the sleep-wake cycle.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
Contraindications
Positivum is contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity to any of the product's ingredients. It is also not recommended:
- for people who drive vehicles or operate machinery, due to possible drowsiness;
- in combination with other sedatives, tranquillisers or sleeping pills, due to potentiation of effects;
- children, without a doctor's recommendation;
Special instructions for use
During use, Positivum acts through natural physiological mechanisms without affecting cognitive ability or memory, but it can induce a state of deep relaxation. Therefore, it is recommended to use it with caution in situations that require increased concentration.
The maximum effect sets in gradually, after several days of constant use, because the action of plant extracts involves a progressive adaptation of the nervous system.
Side effects
Positivum has a very good safety profile, and reported side effects are rare and mild. In some cases, the following may occur:
- mild daytime sleepiness, especially in the first few days of administration;
- minor stomach discomfort or nausea;
- allergic skin reactions (rash, itching) in people sensitive to plant extracts.
If unusual symptoms occur, administration should be discontinued and medical advice sought.
Interactions with other medicines and food
Positivum should not be combined with other sedatives, anxiolytics, hypnotics or antidepressants, as it may potentiate their effects.
In the case of antidepressant, hypnotic or hormonal treatments, it is advisable to seek the advice of a doctor or pharmacist before use. No significant interactions with food have been reported, but it is preferable to take the medicine after meals.
Overdose
No cases of overdose with Positivum have been reported. However, ingestion of doses significantly higher than those recommended may cause excessive drowsiness, decreased alertness and, rarely, digestive disorders. In such cases, it is recommended to stop administration and initiate general supportive measures.
Storage
The product should be stored in its original packaging at temperatures below 25°C, away from direct light, moisture and excessive heat. Keep out of the reach and sight of small children. Do not use the supplement after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
