Fipronil is an insecticide and acaricide belonging to the phenylpyrazole family. It has insecticidal and acaricide activity against fleas (Ctenocephalides spp) and ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor spp., Ixodes spp. including Ixodes ricinus) in cats. Fleas are killed within 24 hours. Ticks are generally killed within 48 hours of contact with fipronil. However, if ticks of some species (Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes ricinus) are already present at the time of application of the product, it is possible that
not all of them are killed within the first 48 hours.
