Oilatum

The Oilatum range includes multiple preparations, adapted to different clinical and care needs: cream, shower gel, Oilatum bath oil, Oilatum shampoo, Oilatum soap, emollient lotion, bath emulsion, or bath foam.

For example, Oilatum Baby Advanced Protection Emulsion is a hypoallergenic bath emulsion that can be used from the first day of life. Oilatum for newborns forms a protective layer that prevents water loss and skin irritation.

Oilatum Cream is an emollient cream for moisturizing dry and sensitive skin, useful in atopic dermatitis, senile pruritus, and ichthyosis.

Oilatum bath products are recommended for:

• atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis;
• senile pruritus and age-related skin xerosis;
• ichthyosis and other conditions characterized by severe flaking and dryness;
• sensitive skin or skin prone to eczema in infants and children;
• prophylactically, to maintain hydration and skin barrier integrity when exposed to irritants (cold weather, hard water, detergents).

The key ingredients in Oilatum products may vary depending on the type of product, but substances known for their moisturizing and soothing properties are frequently used, such as glycerin, panthenol, ceramides, shea butter, allantoin, and colloidal oatmeal. These are particularly beneficial for dry skin prone to eczema.

The dosage regimen depends on the formula and the specific needs of the users.

For example, Oilatum emollient cream is applied several times a day in a thin layer, massaging gently, especially after bathing.

Oilatum cleansing products (gels, foams, shampoos) are used as a substitute for classic soap, daily or as needed.

For infants and children, doses should be adjusted according to age and weight, as recommended by a pediatrician or dermatologist.

Oilatum products have the following contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients or excipients 
• Uncontrolled infected skin lesions
• Use in cavities or on mucous membranes (products are for external use only)

Oilatum Cream is most effective when applied immediately after bathing, as it helps prevent the loss of essential oils from the skin.

The products are hypoallergenic and safe from the first day of life, but testing on a small area is recommended before extensive use.

For hospitalized users, application should be carried out in accordance with protocols for topical products, observing hygiene rules.

Oilatum is generally well tolerated. However, the following may occur:

• local skin reactions (erythema, pruritus, mild burning sensation);
• rarely, allergic reactions such as contact dermatitis to excipients.

Adverse effects usually disappear when treatment is discontinued.

No significant systemic interactions have been reported, as the products are intended for external use.

Concomitant use with other topical products (corticosteroids, immunosuppressants) is permitted, but application should be spaced out to avoid diluting the therapeutic effect.

Avoid using harsh soaps or classic detergents so as not to counteract the emollient effect of Oilatum.

There is no risk of systemic overdose through skin application. In case of accidental ingestion, especially in children, immediate medical consultation is recommended, as the excipients may cause gastrointestinal disorders.

Oilatum products should be stored at temperatures below 25°C, away from frost and direct light. Keep out of the reach and sight of children. Packaging should be tightly closed after use to prevent contamination and evaporation of volatile substances.
