Ibuprom

Ibuprom is available in various forms, offering flexibility according to the user's preference - film-coated tablets, soft capsules, oral suspension for children or gel for dermal application. Tablets come in two strengths 200 mg or 400 mg ibuprofen.

Ibuprom is indicated in the treatment:

• Mild to moderate aches and pains, including headaches, migraines, dental pain and neuralgia
• Muscle and joint pain of inflammatory origin
• Dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain)
• Fever associated with colds and flu

Ibuprom is suitable for adults and adolescents over 12 years of age and weighing over 40 kg. 

The dosage of Ibuprom should be tailored to the needs of each patient, according to the package leaflet:

• Ibuprom 200 mg: the initial dose is 2 tablets, followed by 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours as needed. The maximum recommended dose is 1200 mg per day (6 tablets).
• Ibuprom 400 mg: the recommended dose is 1 tablet every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 1200 mg per day (3 tablets).

Tablets should be taken with water and preferably with meals to reduce the risk of gastric irritation. It is important not to exceed the maximum recommended daily dose.

Ibuprom should not be given in the following cases:

• Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
• History of allergic reactions to acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin)
• Active gastrointestinal ulcers or bleeding
• Severe liver, kidney or heart failure
• In the last trimester of pregnancy
• Bleeding diathesis (predisposition to bleeding)

Patients with bronchial asthma, high blood pressure, systemic lupus erythematosus, inflammatory bowel disease (e.g. ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease) or other chronic conditions should consult their doctor before taking Ibuprom.

To minimize risks, it is recommended that Ibuprom be used in the lowest effective dose.

In elderly patients or those with a history of gastrointestinal disease, the risk of side effects is increased, so careful monitoring is necessary.

Important! In patients with infections, Ibuprom can mask symptoms such as fever and pain, delaying proper diagnosis and treatment.

Like any medicine, Ibuprom can cause side effects, although they do not occur in all people. These include:

• Abdominal pain, nausea, indigestion, headache, rash.
• Diarrhea, constipation, gastritis, vertigo, mental disorders (agitation, insomnia).
• Peptic ulcer, kidney failure, liver disorders, severe allergic reactions

In extremely rare cases, serious reactions such as gastrointestinal perforation, aseptic meningitis, acute renal failure and severe skin reactions (e.g. Stevens-Johnson syndrome) may occur. 

Ibuprom may interact with various medicines, including:

• Acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
• Blood thinners (such as warfarin), increasing the risk of bleeding
• Antihypertensive 
• Diuretics
• Corticosteroids 
• Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors
• Cardiac glycosides

In case of overdose, symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, drowsiness, confusion and headache. In severe cases, overdose can cause kidney failure, liver failure, convulsions and coma.

In such cases, the patient should go to hospital urgently for assessment and treatment.

Ibuprom does not require special storage conditions, but should be kept away from moisture and direct light. It is essential to keep out of the reach of children to avoid accidental ingestion. The expiry date must be observed to ensure product efficacy and safety.
