Retinosan

Retinosan is available in gelatin capsules, packaged in bottles of 30 capsules. This pharmaceutical form ensures good stability of the active ingredients, protection of fat-soluble vitamins and optimal absorption of the ingredients, particularly carotenoids such as lutein and zeaxanthin, when taken as recommended.

Retinosan capsules are indicated as a nutritional supplement in a variety of situations associated with visual strain or progressive deterioration of ocular structures. 

The product is recommended in cases of difficulty in the eye’s adaptation to prolonged reading, prolonged exposure to digital screens (computers, television, mobile phones), the use of contact lenses, prolonged driving or exposure to intense light. 

Furthermore, Retinosan is useful in cases of difficulty adapting to low light or darkness, supporting the function of the retinal rods involved in night vision. 

The recommended dose is 1 capsule per day, to be taken preferably with the main meal, to aid the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and carotenoids. 

The duration of treatment can be determined according to individual needs and the recommendations of a doctor or pharmacist.

Retinosan is contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components. 

Use is not recommended in cases of hypervitaminosis A or E, nor in patients with rare metabolic disorders involving excessive accumulation of trace elements, such as zinc or copper. 

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use the product on the advice of a doctor, given its vitamin A content.

Retinosan does not replace a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, but supplements nutritional intake in situations of greater need. 

Its complex composition includes vitamin C (60 mg) and vitamin E (20 mg), which play an important antioxidant role, vitamin A (1 mg), essential for visual function, B-complex vitamins (B1, B2, B6), involved in neuronal metabolism, as well as lutein and zeaxanthin (5 mg), carotenoids known for protecting the macula. 

In general, Retinosan is well tolerated. Mild digestive disturbances, such as nausea or abdominal discomfort, may rarely occur, particularly when taken on an empty stomach. 

In the event of prolonged use or exceeding the recommended doses, symptoms associated with an excess of fat-soluble vitamins or minerals may occur, which is why it is important to adhere to the dosage regimen.

Retinosan can be taken alongside most medications, but caution is advised when taken with other supplements containing vitamin A, E, zinc or selenium, to avoid cumulative overdose. 

The absorption of carotenoids is enhanced by foods containing healthy fats. No significant interactions with common foods have been reported, but it is advisable to take the product at a separate time from high-dose iron or calcium supplements, which may affect zinc absorption.

Overdose is unlikely if the product is used as recommended. Taking excessive doses may lead to symptoms of hypervitaminosis A or E, digestive disorders or trace element imbalances. 

In the event of accidental ingestion of a large quantity, it is recommended to stop taking the product and consult a doctor.

Retinosan should be stored at room temperature, protected from direct light and moisture, in the original, tightly closed packaging. The product must be kept out of the reach of children and must not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
