Willow is known for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, due to its salicin content, a chemical compound similar to aspirin. What is the difference between willow and wicker? Wicker is a type of willow used as a material for weaving baskets and other products. There are several species of willow, including white willow (Salix alba), weeping willow or weeping willow (Salix babylonica), dwarf willow (Salix retusa), wicker (Salix viminalis), goat willow (Salix caprea), creeping willow (Salix matsudana) or fragrant willow/salcioara (Elaeagnus angustifolia), a decorative species. Not all are used to obtain natural extracts – white willow is usually used in remedies.

Forms of release

Willow-based products are available in several forms:

willow tea;
willow tincture;
willow extract;
willow-based supplements;
creams or ointments with willow.

Some types of products are known as natural aspirin, because salicin in white willow bark extract is considered the original natural source of aspirin. Several parts of the plant can be used to obtain extracts and natural products, including the leaves, bark or buds of willow. The fluffy buds are also called willow catkins.

Indications for use

Willow-based products have numerous uses when it comes to health and the proper functioning of the body. Indications usually vary depending on the type of product. For example, willow extract is used to relieve pain, supplements are used for various inflammatory conditions that cause pain and discomfort, including arthritis, and willow leaf tea has a calming and anti-inflammatory effect. Dosage and administration

Dosages and methods of administration vary depending on the type of product. Salvia tea is made from 1-2 teaspoons of dried herb or one sachet per cup of water, left to infuse – drink 3 cups per day before meals. Willow-based supplements are usually taken 1-2 capsules 3 times a day after meals, but this depends on each product – read the label and package insert for the recommended doses. Willow extract is administered by dissolving 1-3 ml in water, taken 2-3 times a day – doses vary depending on age. Take willow treatments as recommended by your doctor. The recommended duration of treatment is usually 1-3 months – it can be repeated after a break.

Contraindications
