Volumatic inhalation device, Gsk
Inhalation device. Tested and approved for use with GlaxoSmithKline inhalers. Read this leaflet carefully before using Volumatic.
What is Volumatic? Volumatic is a device for inhaling with increased volume. For use with GlaxoSmithKline inhalers.
What is Volumatic used for? When using aerosol inhalers, it is important to release a puff of medicine as soon as you start inhaling. Volumatic helps you get the most out of your inhaler. This allows more of the drug to reach the lungs, where it is needed, and less to the mouth, where it can sometimes have side effects. It is usually used: to overcome any difficulty in pressing the inhaler and inhaling at the same time. To release larger doses of the drug
How to use Volumatic? Please read the following instructions carefully.
FIGURE NO. 1. 1. Fit the two halves of the Volumatic together. Align the groove on one half with the slot on the other half and press them together.
FIGURE NO. 2. 2. Remove the mouthpiece cover and check the inside and outside of the mouthpiece to make sure it is clean. If the inhaler is new or has not been used for a week or more, shake well and release a puff into the air to get it working.
FIGURE NO. 3. 3. Shake the inhaler well.
FIGURE NO. 4. 4. Firmly attach the inhaler to the end of the Volumatic, opposite the mouthpiece. Check the mouthpiece of the Volumatic, inside and out, to make sure it is clean.
FIGURE NO. 5. 5. Hold the device as shown in the figure. Exhale as much as is comfortable and then.....
FIGURE NO. 6. 6. Press your lips firmly around the mouthpiece, but without biting it.
FIGURE NO. 7. 7. Press down on the base of the inhaler with your finger to release a puff of medicine. Immediately take one deep breath or 5 normal breaths to make sure the medicine reaches the lungs. There is no need to remove the Volumatic from your mouth to exhale. You should hear the mouthpiece valve click when you breathe through it. If you do not hear any noise, gently lift the Volumatic and try again.
FIGURE NO. 8. 8. Hold your breath, take the Volumatic out of your mouth and take your finger off the base of the inhaler. If you inhaled by taking a single deep breath, continue to hold your breath as long as is comfortable.
9. Exhale. 10. If you need more than one puff, remove the inhaler by tilting the base and repeat steps 3-9. 11. After use, remove the inhaler from the Volumatic. Replace the mouthpiece cover to protect it from dust. If you use more than one type of inhaler through the Volumatic, repeat the process from step 2. There is no need to wait between inhalations. If you find it difficult to press down on the base of the inhaler when the Volumatic mouthpiece is in your mouth, you can release a puff into the Volumatic and IMMEDIATELY place the Volumatic mouthpiece into your mouth and inhale (as in step 7). If you have been given different instructions for using the Volumatic, follow them carefully. If you have difficulties, seek the advice of your doctor or pharmacist.
What not to do? Don't spray all the puffs into the Volumatic at once and then inhale. You must inhale each puff separately. Do not put your lips over the mouthpiece holes if the valve does not work.
How should Volumatic be stored? The Volumatic should be cleaned regularly, preferably twice a week. 1. Carefully separate the two halves of the Volumatic. Do not remove the valve. 2. Wash the two halves with warm water, which may contain a mild detergent or a sterilizing solution of the type used to clean baby bottles. You can use a soft toothbrush or bottle brush to remove any film that forms on the valve or inside the Volumatic. As long as the valve moves when you breathe in or out, this deposit does not affect the operation of the Volumatic. 3. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Leave the pieces at room temperature until completely dry. Do not rub the inside of the Volumatic with a cloth or polish it because static electricity can build up, which can damage the inhaler. Do not put the pieces in a heated place to dry them faster. 4. Keep the Volumatic in its case to keep it clean. Children can assemble and clean the Volumatic under the supervision of an adult. Labels can be applied to the outside of the Volumatic as long as it does not affect the operation of the device. Children can practice clicking the valve by inhaling and exhaling without using the inhaler. For small children, a pediatric Volumatic is available, which has a soft face mask. The Volumatic should be replaced after 6-12 months of use.
