Use of other medications
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken or might take.
The interaction of GRIPBLOCKER EXPRESS with other drugs is due to the interaction of the active substances contained in the drug:
Paracetamol:
- Drugs that accelerate gastric emptying (e.g. metoclopramide) accelerate the absorption of paracetamol, while drugs that delay gastric emptying (e.g. propantheline) may delay the absorption of paracetamol.
- The use of paracetamol simultaneously with MAO inhibitors (used to treat depression, among others) and within 2 weeks after discontinuing treatment with these drugs may cause agitation and fever.
- Concomitant use of paracetamol with zidovudine (AZT, a drug used in HIV infection) may enhance the toxic effects of zidovudine on the bone marrow.
- Paracetamol may enhance the effect of anticoagulants (coumarin derivatives).
- Concomitant use of paracetamol and drugs that increase hepatic metabolism, i.e. some sleeping pills or antiepileptic drugs, e.g. phenobarbital, phenytoin, carbamazepine, as well as rifampicin (used in the treatment of tuberculosis, among others) may lead to liver damage, even when using the recommended doses of paracetamol.
- Drinking alcohol during paracetamol treatment leads to the formation of a toxic metabolite that causes liver cell necrosis, which may subsequently lead to liver failure.
- Co-administration of paracetamol with chloramphenicol (a broad-spectrum antibiotic) may result in increased plasma chloramphenicol concentrations.
Pseudoephedrine
- Concomitant use with albuterol (used, among others, to treat asthma) may intensify the vasoconstrictor effect.
- Do not use concomitantly with amitriptyline (used, among others, for depression) and sympathomimetics, i.e. decongestants.
- Concomitant use with other sympathomimetics (used, among others, to treat bronchospasm, e.g. asthma), appetite suppressants and amphetamine-like psychostimulants may cause an increase in blood pressure.
- Ammonium chloride, by alkalizing urine, increases the reabsorption of pseudoephedrine metabolites in the kidneys and prolongs its duration of action.
- Antacids (used to relieve heartburn and indigestion) may increase the absorption of pseudoephedrine.
- MAO inhibitors (used to treat depression) slow down the elimination of pseudoephedrine from the body and increase its bioavailability.
- Pseudoephedrine reduces the effect of antihypertensive drugs and may modify the effect of digitalis glycosides (used in heart failure).
- Do not use concomitantly with furazolidine (an antibacterial drug).
Dextromethorphan
- Do not use with MAO inhibitors (used to treat depression).
- Alcohol may increase the adverse effects of dextromethorphan.

Food does not significantly alter the absorption of the drug.
You must not drink alcohol while taking the medicine.
