Thomas Henle's discovery of the specific active ingredient in Manuka honey, called methylglyoxal (MGO), made it possible to understand the origin of the high Activa of this honey. The properties of Manuka honey are partly due to its antiperoxide activity, made possible by the high content of methylglyoxal. The IAA® index provides a scientific guarantee of the high activity of Manuka honey. The higher the index, the higher the concentration of methylglyoxal, the more active the honey.
