Eye Plus

Composition
100 ml of solution contains: sodium hyaluronate (0.4 g), taurine (0.5 g), sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, potassium chloride, monosodium phosphate, disodium phosphate, water for injections.

What is it?
The product is an ophthalmic solution.

Why is it used?
Oftaial Plus is a hypotonic solution intended for instillation onto the ocular surface or contact lenses, especially in the presence of "dry eye" symptoms.
Thanks to the high concentration of sodium hyaluronate (0.4%) and the presence of salts such as magnesium and potassium, the product hydrates and lubricates the ocular surface and reduces the risk of tear film instability.
In addition, the particularity of the product's composition lies in the presence of taurine, the most physiologically abundant amino acid in tear fluid and, in general, in all tissues of the anterior segment of the eye.
Several studies demonstrate that the presence of taurine increases the percentage of cells that survive under hyperosmolarity conditions.
Hyperosmolarity, at the level of the tear film, is associated with the occurrence of the "dry eye" system.
Therefore, the product, although it has no pharmacological effect, protects the corneal epithelium from possible damage caused by certain conditions that can lead to the appearance of the so-called "dry eye", such as:
• adverse climatic and environmental conditions, such as wind, cold, sun, salt, air conditioning, smoke, smog or fine dust;
• particular ophthalmic stress conditions due to the use of contact lenses or prolonged work on video terminals or microscopes.
The lubricating action is also useful when, under certain physical conditions or following the administration of certain medications, tearing is reduced, such as during menopause and during diabetes treatment.
In addition, for contact lens wearers, the product allows the lens to be lubricated and hydrated to facilitate its application or removal, contributing to a feeling of comfort throughout the day.

When it should not be used
Hypersensitivity to components or to other closely related chemicals.

Precautions for use
The product is intended for external use only.
The product should not be used immediately before administering medications for curative purposes and within ten minutes of applying any topical drug treatment.
To reduce the risk of contamination, each bottle should be used by only one person.
Avoid direct contact of the pipette tip with fingers, eyes, contact lenses or any other surface.
Also, avoid letting the pipette come into contact with dirt or dust.

How often and for how long should it be used?
The dosage of Oftaial Plus should be administered individually, depending on your condition and based on the recommendations of your ophthalmologist.
Generally, 1-2 drops of solution are instilled into the conjunctival sac of each eye, as needed, even several times a day.
For use on contact lenses: instill one drop on each lens at the time of application or removal.
Repeat if necessary, even several times a day.

How to apply Oftaial Plus
Open the bottle by moving the protective flap.
Remove the lid.
Pressing on the inverted bottle, instill 1-2 drops of the product into the conjunctival sac of each eye, letting them fall from the top.
Always close the bottle with the cap after use.
Do not damage or disassemble the vial and do not mechanically damage or block the pipettor orifice.
For contact lens use: instill a drop of product into the cavity of each lens at the time of application or removal.

Side effects
In rare cases, a slight blurring of vision has been observed upon instillation, which is due to the density of the solution.
This feeling, however, disappears very quickly.
In some rare cases, intolerance (burning sensation and/or irritation) may occur, but this is insignificant and does not require any change in treatment.
However, it is advisable to contact your ophthalmologist if symptoms persist.
Following the instructions in the leaflet reduces the risk of side effects.

Expiration and storage
The product should be stored at a temperature between 2°C and 25°C.
The solution should be used within 8 weeks of first opening the bottle.
After this period, discard any residue.

Careful
Do not use the solution after the expiration date printed on the package.
The expiration date refers to the product being intact and stored correctly.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use the product if the bottle is damaged.
Do not squeeze the bottle if it is closed with a cap.
