The HP-Guar formula

Initially liquid when instilled, Systane® ULTRA transforms into a protective gel only upon contact with the eye. The HP-Guar (hydroxypropyl guar) it contains cross-links all wetting agents into a viscoelastic network. This stabilizes the tear film and provides 200% improved moisture ^retention³ compared to hyaluronic acid alone. Thus, the eye drops offer rapid and lasting lubrication and noticeable comfort for dry eyes.

In cases of lipid deficiency, the oily tear film phase is missing, leading to increased evaporation and instability of the tear film. Are Systane® ULTRA lubricating drops also suitable for cleaning contact lenses?
No, Systane® ULTRA lubricating eye drops are not a cleaning or disinfecting agent for contact lenses. Lenses cannot be soaked in or disinfected with Systane® ULTRA lubricating eye drops.
